David Thomas France

2/24 - last Sundays 10:30am-12:00pm

David Thomas France

David is a Movement Therapist, researcher, and senior yoga instructor with over 25 years experience.  He is a certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering®, a form of physical and sensory education that encompasses all the body systems and developmental aspects of human experience.  David has studied yoga with masters throughout the world, particularly influenced by Rodney Yee, Donna Farhi, and Erich Schiffmann, and now focuses on personal research and deep listening to his guide practice.  In tandem with his movement studies he has studied the Ayurvedic and Osteopathic traditions of healing and bodywork.  Uncompromisingly eclectic and interdisciplinary, he brings to his lessons a broad range of experiences from athletics, martial arts, contemplative arts, dance, and healing arts. Originally from from the San Francisco Bay Area, David teaches internationally, and has lived in Japan since 2007.

With the demands of work, family, education, relationships, and more, managing a full life can be a dizzying affair. And often one of the first things we sacrifice is our own self-care.

TELL Kansai Self-Care Series offers a much needed time-out to rebalance with Finding Balance through Yoga & Mindfulness, a simple no-nonsense practice session - including movement, breathwork, and sitting meditation - aimed at developing our capacity for self-regulation, structural balance, and resilience. We’ll work out accumulated tensions, learn techniques that enhance our ability to manage anxiety, still that over active mind, and respond constructively to life's challenges. We will learn fundamentals of secular mindfulness meditation and tools to help you transfer the focus, calm, and sensitivity developed in sitting meditation into your daily life.

The TELL Self-Care Series are ongoing English language events that provide education, opportunities for, and practical approaches to better mental and physical wellbeing. TELL Self-Care Series are also meant to provide connections to the social support of the Kansai English speaking community.
